Giulio Regeni, final blow

The Rome Court of Assizes has concluded the trial for the abduction, torture, and murder of Giulio Regeni, the Italian researcher kidnapped in Cairo in 2016 and found dead a few days later. A long judicial process, marked by investigative difficulties and the lack of cooperation from the Egyptian authorities, brought four Cairo security service members to trial. The verdict convicts three defendants for Regeni's abduction and acquits the fourth, while the murder charge was dropped.
