A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 will include material that has never appeared in print. Showrunner Ira Parker says George R.R. Martin handed him unpublished pages from his files, and they made it into the new episodes.

Filming wrapped in late summer, and the season is slated to premiere sometime in the first half of 2027, according to Winter Is Coming.

What Ira Parker Said About Martin's Unpublished Pages

Parker told The Hollywood Reporter that Martin gave him pages of prose from his files. In the words Winter Is Coming quotes, "He gave me some unpublished pages."

Parker also said the extra material counts as canon as far as Martin's filing cabinets are concerned. That is a charming way to describe a ruling that fans will want to test.

He did not say what the pages contain, and the reports do not say where they fall in the season. Anyone hoping for a plot summary will have to keep waiting.

The Sworn Sword, the Reach, and a 2027 Window

Season 2 is expected to adapt "The Sworn Sword," the second Dunk and Egg novella by Martin, as Winter Is Coming reports. The story is set largely in the drought-stricken Reach, which is also the main setting of the new season.

That drought explains one of the filming choices. According to the same outlet's set coverage, the Canary Islands mostly stood in for the Reach, so the production found its parched landscape in the Atlantic.

Giant Watermelons and a Bird-Woman: The Dorne Scenes

The Reach was not the only region on the Canary Islands call sheet. Spanish fansite Los Siete Reinos published set photos and details, which Winter Is Coming summarized, and some of that material points to Dorne.

One Dorne scene was reportedly filmed at the Convent of the Dominicans in Teror, Gran Canaria. The report says the convent is believed to represent a Dornish location.

A second scene was filmed in the village of Fataga with more than 150 extras. Winter Is Coming says the village "stood in for a bustling Dornish market."

The scene reportedly includes a conversation between Dunk and Egg, a dancer dressed as a bird-woman, and a merchant trying to sell the pair giant watermelons. The article also notes that Dorne scenes did not appear in "The Sworn Sword," which makes the detour more curious.

Important Note: The Dorne details come from a fansite by way of Winter Is Coming, and the production has not confirmed them. Nothing in the reports connects these scenes to Martin's unpublished pages, so the two should not be treated as related.

Owen Harris and the Aegon Movie Set for 2029

Season 2 is not the only Westeros project in the pipeline. A Game of Thrones movie about Aegon's conquest is set for release in 2029, and Slashfilm says Warner Bros. announced it for June of that year.

Owen Harris, who directed episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is directing the film. Winter Is Coming cites Deadline as confirming his role, and says Beau Williamson, credited with "Andor," wrote the screenplay.

Not everyone is optimistic. Slashfilm argues the movie may disappoint at the box office because the franchise is established as premium television, the film is expected to be expensive, and it would need to draw casual viewers.

What Remains Unconfirmed Ahead of the Premiere

As of early October 2026, several details are still loose. The reports do not agree on the film's title: two call it "Aegon's Conquest," while Slashfilm writes "Aegon's Quest." They also give no exact release date beyond 2029, with Slashfilm saying June.

For season 2, the next answers should be a firm premiere date and some clue about what Martin's pages actually contain. Until then, the only confirmed fact is that Parker has them.
