Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Trailer: Two New Killers and a Midlife Crisis

Dexter Morgan has survived blood-spatter analysis, Miami homicide detectives, and a whole lot of plastic sheeting. Now he faces something messier: getting older. Paramount+ has released the full-length official trailer for the Dexter: Resurrection season 2 trailer's headline attraction, a season built around two new killers and a midlife crisis, ComicBookMovie.com reports.

Season 2 premieres October 30 on Paramount+. Here is what the footage and the official description reveal, and what remains unclear.

Brian Cox and Dan Stevens Play the New Killers in Dexter's Path

The trailer sets up Dexter's newest targets: the New York Ripper, played by Brian Cox, and the Five Borough Killer, played by Dan Stevens. The season synopsis describes Dexter as caught between two killers. One has "decades of notoriety" behind him, while the other is a fresh face terrorizing New York in ways nobody has seen before.

The cast list gives Cox's character as Don Framt, also known as the New York Ripper. It lists Stevens as Owen Stark among the new series regulars. The report does not explain how Owen Stark relates to the Five Borough Killer, so the two names should not be treated as the same role until the season clarifies it.

Meanwhile, Dexter battles what the synopsis calls a "new and unexpected enemy": a mid-life crisis. The report words it as Dexter "battling his greatest enemy yet: a mid-life crisis." For a man who has handled far worse, the premise is gleefully absurd.

Returning Cast and Guest Stars for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

Michael C. Hall leads the returning main cast as Dexter. He is joined by Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington, and James Remar. Clyde Phillips is the showrunner and executive producer.

The new series regulars beyond Cox and Stevens are Bokeem Woodbine as Captain Mixon and Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon. Two guest stars are also named. Krysten Ritter returns as Mia LaPierre, also known as Lady Vengeance, and Gabriel Luna appears as Ray Ballard, known as the Sleepy Eyed Stranger.

What the Trailer Hints About Harrison and Joey Quinn

The synopsis says Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice. Based on the trailer, the report says Harrison (Jack Alcott) has seemingly joined the NYPD. It adds that Joey Quinn (Desmond Harrington) and Mia LaPierre (Krysten Ritter) are seemingly back.

The word "seemingly" matters here. The report draws these points from trailer footage and does not describe confirmed storylines.

Important Note: The report's text cuts off before the rest of the official season description. How large Quinn's and Mia's roles are, and whether Harrison has actually joined the NYPD, are not confirmed in the sourcing.

October 30 Premiere Date and the Paramount+ Premium Plan Catch

Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection premieres October 30 on Paramount+. ComicBookMovie.com says it is available only on the Premium Plan, so subscribers on other tiers should check their plan before the premiere.

The date lands in a busy stretch for returning series. If you are tracking what else is on the way, the Lanterns season 2 status and the Neagley season 2 renewal details are both worth a look.

Next up is the premiere itself, where the trailer's hints about Harrison, Quinn, and the two killers should start turning into confirmed plot. Fans waiting on another long-running series can also check the Reacher season 5 filming and release window.
